Tour Overview

The 8 Days Marangu Route Kilimanjaro Trek is the most classic and historic way to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain standing at 5,895 meters above sea level. Known as the Coca Cola Route, the Marangu Route is the only Kilimanjaro trail that offers mountain hut accommodation instead of camping, making it an excellent choice for trekkers who prefer more comfort while still enjoying a challenging and rewarding climb. This itinerary by NK Safaris, a professional tour company based in Arusha, Tanzania, is carefully designed to include 6 days of hiking with additional acclimatization time to increase summit success and overall safety.

The Marangu Route approaches Kilimanjaro from the southeastern side, passing through rich ecological zones including lush rainforest, heath and moorland, alpine desert, and the arctic summit zone. Unlike other routes, the ascent and descent follow the same trail, allowing trekkers to experience familiar landscapes from different perspectives. The route is well maintained and ideal for first time climbers, school groups, charity climbers, and travelers seeking a structured and well supported Kilimanjaro trekking experience.

This 8 day itinerary allows climbers to acclimatize properly by including an extra day at Horombo Hut, reducing the risk of altitude sickness while maximizing summit success. Throughout the trek, climbers are supported by certified mountain guides, experienced porters, and professional cooks, ensuring safety, proper pacing, and nutritious meals. NK Safaris operates this trek with a strong focus on responsible tourism, porter welfare, and client satisfaction, making it one of the most reliable and affordable Mount Kilimanjaro climbing packages available from Arusha.
